COMMOTION IN THE HOUSE OF HERBAL MEDICINE
  YEMKEM VS OKO OLOYUN

Things Fall Apart, Patapata
By: Patricia Nwogu

Things has finally fall apart in the house of herbal medicine.
The group known as Herbal Therapy Society of Nigeria (HTSN) was formed about  fourteen years ago in Lagos and later having chapters in other states, especially, in the South West of Nigeria.
Popular herbal medicine producers, promoters and practitioners were the founding personalties.
    They include Dr Akintunde Ayeni,(YEMKEM),Dr Fatai Yusuf,(Oko Oloyun),Dr Temitayo Adeyemi (Omooba),Dr Finnih,Dr Kaolag, Madam Nike Adepoju and many others who made their livinghood through traditional medicine;
Right from the formation of the society, Yemkem had been unanimously saddled with the presidency of this group.
While  Dr Temitayo Adeyemi Omooba was occupying the office of Vice President.Oko Oloyun was made the chairman of the board of Trustees. Things were going on well as expected, until recently when the bubble bursts.
The wall of hitherto peaceful society suddenly carved in, and the proverbial lizard entered in straight.
As at now, two factions of herbal society had emerged.
While Dr Akintunde Ayeni remained the leader of the age long  HPSN, a splinter group has broken out.
The group was being led by Dr Fatai Yusuf (Oko Oloyun) under a new name with acronym NAP.
While the Oko Oloyun’s NAP has been patronising media to herald their relevance and seriousness, the Yemkem faction had remained undaunted.
Olokiki News can authoritatively report that the comotion in the house of herbal medicine had been gathering momentum for some years back. It was rooted in the business rivalry between the two herbal medicine gladiators ,YemKem and Oko Oloyun.
While YemKem is gladiating with the promotional appelation as “Parthfinder”. His younger rival had been boasting that He is the Master. And that ‘Master is Master”.
While all these were regarded as business rivalry. Oko Oloyun extended it to the leadership of their society.
He started by confroting the YemKem accolades; And began to undermining the constituted leadership.
The last straw that broke the camels back was when the society decided to hold election last year 2017.
Candidacy of Akintunde Ayeni was touted by his supporters. But Oko Oloyun as a person will not listen to that. His argument was that for over ten years that the society has been formed.
YemKem has remained the President. He therefore argued that Akintunde Ayeni must step aside by not contesting in the  election at all. Oko Oloyun believes this will pave way for him to win the presidency of the society.
But the pro YemKem group vehemently opposed to this point.Their own point was that, the leadership of YemKem during the formation period was without election. That the 2017 election was the first election to be held by the society.
Therefore, Akitunde Ayeni must “carry box” in the election, And pro YemKem finally won the debate.
Olokiki News garthered from reliable source that the decision and approval of YemKem to contest sent jittery to Oko Oloyun, having realised that he may not be able to defeat Ayeni in a free and fair election.
One of the points YemKem group were reiterating to send Oko Oloyun to cooler was that Oko Oloyun’s education background is not sufficient to lead a national society.
Another point was that Oko Oloyun does not financially commited to the society. Because most of his self made promises to the society were never fulfilled.
However, Oko Oloyun would not sucumb to his opponents brangade, He boycotted the 2017 election, and Yemkem and his group won all the seats vied for, mostly unopposed.
The fallout of YemKem’s victory was the declaration of Oko Oloyun as the president of his own faction.
Fatai Yusuf Oko Oloyun wasted no time, he quickly gathered his cronies and sympathisers together funded them to form his own factional society known as NAP and was instantly installed the President General.
Meanwhile both Oko Oloyun’s and YemKem’s societies have been clinching to Ooni of Ife,Oba  Enitan Ogunwusi to shur up their relevance to Yoruba race in general.
Both groups had at one date or the other paid homage to Ile Ife kingdom and had been received by the Royal Father of the source of sons and daughters of Oduduwa
